Eureka Car Crash Hospitalizes Driver

On Thursday, November 5, 2020, one person was left with serious injuries as the result of a Eureka car crash. According to the Eureka Police Department (EPD), the collision involved four vehicles in total but only caused one major injury. Additionally, three of the four vehicles were parked at the time of the accident. An investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.

Crash Information

The collision occurred at around 5:07 p.m. EPD officers indicated that an elderly woman was driving a white Buick sedan on H Street. For unknown reasons, the woman apparently lost control of the Buick and veered into a pickup truck on the side of the road near the intersection of 17th Street, striking its front-passenger side. Following the initial collision, the Buick overcorrected and veered off to the opposite side of the street, where it crashed into the rear passenger side of a white Hyundai sedan. The Hyundai was pushed forward into a third vehicle, identified as a small, white SUV.

Photos of the accident show significant damage to the front end of the Buick as well as both the truck and Hyundai. The Buick eventually came to a stop partially on the corner of the sidewalk at the H and 17th Streets intersection.

Response

When responders arrived at the collision scene, they discovered that the Buick driver had been seriously hurt. Medical officials placed her on an ambulance and had her driven to an area hospital to receive emergency medical care. Updates on the injured woman’s health condition have not been provided by hospital staff.

Investigation

While officers are actively investigating the incident, police have not reported any likely collision factors. Even in crashes that only involve one driver, there may be a number of factors that contributed to causing the accident. For instance, many solo-vehicle accidents happen due to things outside of driver control, like issues with malfunctioning car parts or dangerously defective roads.

Car Accident Injuries

Car accident injuries can be serious and are often difficult to recover from. Elderly people are especially vulnerable in the event of a crash because their bodies tend to be more fragile. Furthermore, being elderly typically means that your body takes a longer time to heal, potentially complicating the injury recovery process. While there are many treatment options for car accident survivors, many people injured during collisions face serious challenges and need extensive care.

Calling an Attorney
