Study Examines Motorcycle Accident Costs

New research showed that motorcycle accident costs, on average, are substantially higher than other motor vehicle collisions. Some people might be surprised by this because motorcycles are smaller than other motor vehicles. The study also showed that severe injuries are far more likely to occur in motorcycle accidents than in other motor vehicle collisions. These injuries can lead to costly medical bills that drive up the cost of the crash. This sheds some critical light on the severe impacts that might result from an accident involving a motorcycle.

The Importance of Motorcycle Gear

One of the most essential pieces of safety gear when riding is a motorcycle jacket. While there has been a lot of attention paid to factors such as poor weather, construction zones, and helmets, it is also essential to think about other examples of safety gear. While people do not need to invest in an entire wardrobe of them, it is vital to have at least one reliable, durable motorcycle jacket. Everyone needs to think about their safety when riding a motorcycle. This starts with a specialized jacket made just for motorcycle riders.

How Motorcycle Brake Problems can Lead to an Accident

Motorcycle brake problems can lead to severe accidents that might place people in the hospital. Information from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that motorcycles account for less than 1 percent of all miles traveled on the road on an annual basis. Despite this, the death rate for motorcycle collisions is more than 6 times greater than that for those who ride in a standard passenger vehicle.

Motorcycle eye safety is an important and often-overlooked aspect of riding a motorbike. Over the past few years, motorcycle helmets have received a lot of attention. This attention is deserved. Unfortunately, this topic does not receive the attention it deserves.

Road Debris Can Cause a Motorcycle Accident

Road debris is capable of causing a serious motorcycle accident that might even lead to traumatic injuries or fatalities. Statistics that have been published by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety have shown that debris causes thousands of accidents each year. Because motorcycle riders do not have any protection between them and the pavement, debris represents a serious hazard to those who ride motorbikes. It is crucial for everyone who rides a motorcycle to understand some of the risks that road debris can present. By thinking about debris ahead of time, serious accidents can be avoided.

Neck Brace Can Help with Recovery after an Injury

If someone is involved in a motorcycle collision, there is a much higher chance of injuries occurring when compared to accidents involving passenger vehicles. This is because there is a serious lack of protection between the rider and the external environment. In a passenger vehicle, airbags, seatbelts, and a metal frame separate passengers from the pavement. There is no such protection available for motorcycle riders.
