TRACY, CA — A multi-vehicle collision in San Joaquin County on Friday claimed the lives of two individuals and left several others injured.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 580, just west of Corral Hollow Road in Tracy.

Emergency crews, including paramedics and firefighters, responded to the scene to assist the injured. Several people were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated. Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were in their early 50s and from Modesto.

Two additional victims were transported to nearby hospitals. One suffered significant injuries, including a broken bone, while another experienced minor injuries. The incident forced a full closure of eastbound I-580 for several hours as emergency responders provided care and cleared the wreckage.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. At this time, authorities have not determined whether speed, distracted driving, or substance use played a role.

MODESTO, CA – A collision between a motorcycle and another vehicle occurred Friday afternoon on southbound Highway 99 in Modesto, leading to traffic delays.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene near Kansas Avenue around 3:25 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic logs.

At least one person sustained injuries in the crash, though the severity of those injuries remains unclear.
