Cause of Fatal Highway 160 Crash Under Investigation

CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.

Investigators may review roadway evidence, vehicle damage, witness statements, and other available information to determine why the Kia entered the opposing lane.

Head-On Collision Safety on Two-Lane Highways

Head-on collisions can cause severe or fatal injuries because vehicles traveling in opposite directions may strike each other with substantial force. Staying within the designated travel lane is especially important on highways where opposing traffic is not separated by a physical barrier.

Drivers can reduce collision risks by remaining alert, avoiding distractions, maintaining a safe speed, and never driving while impaired or overly fatigued.
