Oroville Pedestrian Auto Accident

One person was seriously hurt during an Oroville pedestrian auto accident on Friday, February 7, 2020. The accident involved one vehicle and a pedestrian and took place in the late morning, according to reports from officers of the Oroville Police Department (OPD). Crash Details

The crash happened at 11:44 a.m. on Veatch Street at the intersection of Mitchell Avenue. The pedestrian was crossing Veatch when he was struck by a northbound Ford Focus. Further details about the crash were unavailable.

OPD sent emergency officials to the crash site directly after they received a notification about the crash. When responders reached the scene, they found that the pedestrian was trapped in the hood of the vehicle. Firefighters extricated the pedestrian before and placed him on an ambulance to be taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Investigation

OPD has stated that their officers are investigating possible causes of the crash. Officials have stated that driving under the influence is not suspected to have been a factor. Additionally, no arrest was made at the accident scene.

Pedestrian Injuries

Pedestrians aren’t protected from accidents like vehicle occupants are. Because they don’t have steel walls, airbags, or seatbelts to protect them, pedestrians are liable to suffer very severe injuries, even in collisions that are relatively minor. Some of the injuries that pedestrians frequently suffer during car crashes include:

All of these injuries can seriously affect your life and often cause serious symptoms that can last a long time. In severe cases, pedestrian injuries can leave people with permanent issues with mobility, cognition, and chronic pain. In order to recover from these injuries, many crash survivors need to undergo multiple medical procedures as well as extensive physical therapy.

Claiming Compensation

Paying for the necessary medical expenses to fully recover from your injuries can be very expensive, and many people worry about how they will be able to afford the care they need. On top of this, being seriously hurt often leaves people unable to go to work and perform their job, resulting in a temporary or possibly permanent loss of income. In order to make sure that you can recover both financially and physically, it’s critical to reach out to an Oroville personal injury lawyer and get advice about filing a personal injury claim.

Personal injury claims seek to hold negligent parties and/or insurance companies responsible for the damages caused during accidents. The payments available through injury claims vary depending on your specific circumstances, but many survivors are able to obtain compensation for a variety of damages that include medical bills, property damage, lost income, personal suffering, and more.
