Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck by Pickup Truck on I-80 Off-Ramp in Fairfield

A bicyclist killed after being struck by pickup truck on I-80 off-ramp in Fairfield on Thursday morning, August 6, 2026, at the eastbound Interstate 80 to Air Base Parkway offramp in Fairfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Fatal Collision Reported Near Air Base Parkway

The collision occurred shortly before noon as a bicyclist was reportedly riding in or near the traffic lanes of the eastbound I-80 offramp.

According to CHP’s preliminary investigation, a white Ram 1500 pickup truck was exiting Interstate 80 when the driver observed the bicyclist. The driver reportedly steered onto the shoulder and applied the brakes in an attempt to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.

The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 12:06 p.m.

Authorities have not released the identity of the bicyclist pending notification of next of kin.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain under investigation. CHP investigators continue to review the events leading up to the crash and determine what factors may have contributed to the collision.
