A vehicle versus pedestrian accident occurred on Ellis Street in Madera on September 19, 2023. The crash occurred in the area of Owens Street and Ellis Street at approximately 7:20 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

A preliminary report indicated that an 8-year-old boy was headed to school with his older brother when he was allegedly struck by a Honda. The driver of the Honda, a man, age 25, allegedly did not see the two children and crashed into one of them, CHP traffic officers said.
The 8-year-old child was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The older brother was uninjured in the incident. Authorities indicated that the Honda driver remained at the crash site. Additional information has not yet been released.
