Driver Located in Roseville Hit-and-Run That Injured Minor

A Roseville pedestrian accident on July 13 left a minor with critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle. It was late at night when officers with the Roseville Police Department were called to the scene of the accident, which occurred near Hayden Parkway, where it intersects with Blue Oaks Boulevard, following a reported hit-and-run. A witness to the accident said that it occurred near the Siena Apartments.

Driver Cooperates With Authorities Following Pedestrian Accident

Police found out who the driver was that struck the minor and located them. The driver was said to be cooperating with the investigation into the pedestrian injury accident. Officers dismissed possible drunk driving as a factor. No additional information regarding the injured minor has been released.

Pedestrian Accident Injury Causes

Pedestrian injuries have become more common in Northern California. While some of those injuries can be attributed to the increase in drivers and pedestrians, accidents would seldom occur if negligence wasn’t involved. Some of the reasons drivers and other entities are negligent include:

  • A driver who runs a stop sign or red light can cause a pedestrian accident, especially after dark.
  • Poor lighting can lead to a pedestrian accident if the intersection or roadway isn’t well-lit.
  • A speeding driver may spot a pedestrian in the way up ahead but be unable to stop in time to avoid striking them.
  • Distracted driving causes many pedestrian accidents. Looking down to text someone takes about five seconds, which can mean the difference between striking someone on foot or not.
  • Alcohol or drug consumption causes poor reflexes, lack of proper judgment, and affects vision. This can easily cause a collision.
  • A poorly designed intersection or one that has a malfunctioning traffic signal or mistimed walk light can cause a serious accident. In cases where a government entity in charge of maintaining the roadway is at fault, they can be held responsible. Because the time limit for filing against a government agency is much shorter, enlisting the help of an injury attorney can ensure paperwork is filed on time. Otherwise, the court will refuse to hear the case.

Collecting the Evidence to Support a Pedestrian Accident Claim

In order for a claim to proceed, evidence against the at-fault driver or entity has to be gathered. We send out investigators to collect that evidence. Among other areas of evidence collection:

  • The accident report by the police is reviewed to ensure its accuracy because any mistakes might affect the client’s ability to file a claim.
  • The investigators check the area’s surveillance cameras to determine if the pedestrian accident was captured on video. This is a compelling type of evidence.
  • Witnesses of the accident are interviewed by the investigators to take their statements.
  • The investigators perform accident reconstruction, which often points toward fault in a crash.
  • The traffic record of the party in the motor vehicle is checked to see if they have a record of previous accidents or infractions.

Once the evidence is gathered, it can be used by our injury attorneys to build a robust case to support our client’s claim for compensation.
