Sacramento October 2018 Community Events

October 2018 Sacramento Community Event Calendar

October is an exciting month for many, as it marks the beginning of the widely popular holiday season. You may have noticed your neighbors have decorated their front porch with carved pumpkins, or maybe you saw some of the Starbucks advertisements for Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Either way, it is hard to ignore the seasonal spirit that spreads infectiously during these last few months of the year. If you are looking for opportunities to celebrate and embrace the holiday season – look no further. Below I have listed some upcoming Sacramento events that will be just as delightful as they are spooky.

Sinister Creature Con

Date: Saturday, October 13 – Sunday, October 14, 2018

Location: 6151 H Street, Sacramento, CA 95819

What better way to celebrate the horror genre than in the middle of October when Halloween preparation is at its peak. This weekend monster mash event will last for two days at the Scottish Rite Center in Sacramento. There will be numerous celebrity appearances, including Ray Wise and Sherilyn Fenn from Twin Peaks, Zack Galligan from Gremlins, Dale Midkiff from Pet Semetary, Ken Foree from The Devil’s Rejects, and much more.

Watch Youtube Video: Sinister Creature Con 2017. This news broadcast video by Good Day Sacramento takes a closer look into the 2017 Sinister Creature Con. Viewers can see celebrity appearances by Scott MacDonald from Star Trek, director Kevin Tenney who worked on Night of the Demons, and a room full of prosthetic masks that are guaranteed to make you shiver.

Sacramento Rocktoberfest 2018

Location: 4311 Attawa Ave #300, Sacramento, CA 95822

Two Rivers Cider Company is excited to be hosting Sacramento’s 2nd annual Rocktoberfest fundraiser. This family-friendly event will feature nine local musicians and vocalists, five visual artists, a costume contest, one haunted alley, raffle giveaways, trick-or-treating, and more. If you come by on an empty stomach, there will be plenty of fresh food and cider to fill up on. This benefit concert and fundraiser directly supports The Silver Orange, a not-for-profit organization that provides an open space for teenagers while supporting their creativity and personal development.

Sugar Skull Making

Date: Sunday, October 21, 2018

Time: 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Location: 2574 16th Street, Sacramento, CA 95818

Admission: $10 tickets

Join our team at Sol Collective in the fun and creative process of making sugar skulls. Sugar skulls are traditionally given as offerings used to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, a Mexican holiday. The sugar skull represents a deceased soul and is seen as a tribute to the loved ones that we have lost. At this workshop, participants can decorate their sugar skulls with icing, colorful sugars, tin foil, and glitter. All ages are encouraged to come and create a meaningful artwork that can last years (if properly taken care of).
