Accident on Auburn Avenue On-Ramp When Vehicle Exits Roadway

A major injury accident occurred in North Highlands on June 1 in a single-vehicle crash. The accident happened when the driver lost control of their Nissan Sentra, which went off the road, down an embankment and crashed into a tree on the Auburn Avenue on-ramp off Highway 244, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). It was determined that the driver sustained major injuries in the crash, and the patient was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.

Wrecker Brought to the Scene

A wrecker with 50 feet of cable was called to the accident site to bring the vehicle back up to the roadway and remove it. The collision investigation into the cause of the major injury accident is underway by CHP crash investigators.

The Reasons for Run-Off-Road Accidents

Several factors can lead to a collision where a driver’s vehicle leaves the roadway. Most run-off-road accidents are caused by driver error, including speeding, distracted or drunk driving and other factors. Occasionally, an accident involving just one vehicle can also be due to external force. It is in such a circumstance that the injured party may be entitled to recover fair compensation. That recovery of damages should cover their medical costs and time away from work, as well as compensate them for their pain and suffering.

A Major Injury Caused by a Defective Automobile Part

There are many causes of a run-off-road accident that can be the result of a defective auto part. Tires, steering, the accelerator, brakes and other parts that are defective can suddenly make the driver lose control. These accidents can be caused by the following conditions:

  • Failure in the power steering: When the power steering fails, the wheel can lock up, and the driver loses control of the car.
  • Tire defects: When a tire blows or the tread separates, the driver may lose control and the vehicle may go off the road, especially at highway speeds.
  • Brake failure: When a driver suddenly tries to apply the brake and nothing happens, the vehicle goes out of control and a run-off-road accident can occur.
  • Engine or suspension failure: If an engine stops working suddenly, or if the suspension fails, the driver will be unable to control what is happening. This can easily cause a vehicle to go off the road, resulting in a major injury.

A personal injury lawyer can help you file an auto product lawsuit against the manufacturer and others when a mechanical defect causes an accident. After an accident, engineers must be able to inspect the vehicle, which is why it is important to prevent it from being destroyed.

Negligent Road Maintenance in Major Injury

A number of factors can cause a run-off-road accident, including potholes, cracks, fissures, erosion, poor road design and lack of signage. Government entities responsible for that maintenance could be liable for injuries. A lawyer can be helpful if you are dealing with a government entity since the statute of limitations for filing a claim is only six months. It is crucial to ensure that the paperwork is completed properly and the claim is filed before the statute of limitations expires. A claim will be dismissed if it is not filed before the deadline.
