Elkhorn Boulevard Intersection Motorcyclist Accident Reported

A motorcyclist injury occurred in North Highlands on September 5 when a motorist reportedly made an illegal U-turn at an intersection. The crash occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Elkhorn Boulevard and 30th Street, according to the accident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). According to the person who reported the collision, the driver of a Cadillac SRX that crashed into the motorcycle was performing an illegal U-turn when the accident happened.

Accident Causing Motorcyclist Injury Being Investigated

The reporting person also stated that a CHP officer was nearby when the accident happened. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the motorcycle, and an unknown injury was reported. CHP investigators into the motorcyclist injury accident are working toward determining what happened and assigning fault.

Negligent Motorists Commonly Cause a Motorcyclist Injury

Obeying the rules of the road is important for all drivers, motorcycle riders, pedestrians, bicyclists and others. It’s how people stay safe on the roadways. However, some drivers are negligent and conduct themselves in a way that ignores their responsibility toward others. Some of the ways a passenger vehicle driver causes a motorcyclist injury through their own negligence include:

  • Making a left turn in front of a rider is the main cause of a serious motorcyclist injury. In many cases, the driver either thinks they can beat the motorcycle rider across the street before they reach them or they misjudge the rider’s speed and distance.
  • Making an illegal U-turn is dangerous for others sharing an intersection or roadway. Because others do not anticipate intentional actions that are not allowed, they are often taken by surprise when they are struck by a negligent driver.
  • Running a red light or stop sign is a common cause of all types of injuries at intersections.
  • Drinking and driving can cause a motorcyclist injury accident. Because those who are intoxicated cannot judge distance, have blurred vision and problems tracking as well as slowed reflexes, they cause many types of accidents every year.
  • Fatigued driving is another reason a motorcyclist injury accident can happen. A motorist who is too tired has been compared to a drunk driver with similar symptoms of impairment.

Recovering Damages After a Motorcycle Crash

Insurance companies can make it more difficult for a motorcycle rider to collect compensation following an accident injury. This prejudice can also be seen in juries in civil court. Having representation that knows how to counter the arguments made by the insurance company or defense lawyer is important for the rider to collect the compensation he/she deserves.

My law firm has successfully handled many motorcycle claims because we fight hard to obtain fair compensation for our clients and know all those tricks used by the insurance company. We won’t let you down.
