Fatal Crash on Kiernan Avenue in Modesto
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a fatal crash on Kiernan Avenue and McHenry Avenue in the Modesto area on the night of Tuesday, September 7, 2021. The traffic collision occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. and involved a Subaru and a van hauling a trailer.

The Subaru and the van were both involved in a rear-end collision, according to CHP traffic officers. The van continued off the roadway and was reported to have at least overturned once. The Subaru also veered off the road and collided with a utility pole, causing the vehicle to shear at the base, CHP reported.
One of the drivers was transported to Doctors Medical Center for immediate treatment. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries during hospitalization. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified him as Clavey Carlson, 25, of Modesto. The van driver, a 43-year-old man, was said to have suffered injuries described as minor in the crash. Further information on the incident was not immediately available.
