Fatal Butte County Motorcyclist Accident

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a deadly motorcycle accident took place in Butte County on the morning of Monday, June 3, 2019. CHP has confirmed that one individual was killed during the collision. However, authorities of the Butte County Sheriff’s Department are waiting until the motorcyclist’s family is notified to release his or her full identity. The collision remains under investigation as officers attempt to figure out what factors caused the accident to occur. I would like to send my support and sympathy to those who’ve suffered the loss of a loved one because of this terrible incident.

Crash Information

According to officers, the crash happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. in a rural area about 20 minutes east of the city of Chico. The motorcyclist had been driving on Centerville Road close to the intersection at China Camp Road in the area of Butte Creek Canyon when they apparently lost control of their vehicle and crashed. Specific details about how the crash took place, including whether or not other vehicles were involved have not yet been reported.

Investigation

As police investigate this accident, authorities have not stated what, if any, factors they suspect to have been involved. Motorcycle accidents can be very dangerous and are often caused by factors such as defective or hazardous roadways, malfunctioning motorcycle parts such as steering systems or tires, reckless driving, medical issues, and more.

Additionally, motorcycle accidents most commonly took place between 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and very rarely occurred between midnight and 9:00 a.m.
