Sacramento Overnight Crash Leads to Death of Driver

A Sacramento overnight crash on October 13 resulted in the driver’s death in the West Del Paso Heights neighborhood. The accident occurred at about 12:15 in the morning along Norwood Avenue near Ford Road. Sacramento Police Department officers reported that the driver lost control and slammed into a tree.

Speed May Have Contributed to Sacramento Overnight Crash

Although medics with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the accident scene, the driver had died in the collision. Authorities believe speed may have factored into the cause of the accident. Alcohol or drug use was dismissed as a cause. The roadway remained closed until about 6:00 a.m., as an investigation was conducted.

Losing a Loved One

A loved one’s death is a piece of devastating news for all of us. In some cases, it is expected, but not in others, such as a Sacramento overnight crash. The loss of a family member due to another driver’s negligence is one such instance. It’s normal for loved ones to wonder when and why something like this happens. Since answers may not be easy to find in a Sacramento overnight crash, this is not easy to solve, but an accident attorney can investigate to uncover the evidence.

  • Using accident reconstruction techniques, the attorney’s traffic accident investigators review the different scenarios and determine liability at the accident scene.
  • They also look for evidence or remnants of the fleeing vehicle since hit-and-run drivers may be at fault.
  • The investigators are responsible for speaking to witnesses who may have witnessed the accident and examining surveillance videos that may have captured the event digitally.
  • The investigators will examine the guardrails for defects and can help the family file a claim against the government agency responsible for them.
  • Also, investigators look for defective parts, such as tires or brakes, that may have prevented the driver from stopping in time. When defective parts are involved, a product liability claim can be filed against the manufacturer and others.

Insights into Wrongful Death Lawsuits

There is usually a sense of helplessness and grief among the family initially, and they may even feel they are partially responsible for the tragedy. It is important to note that they generally bear the financial loss of support they might have received over time from the deceased. Filing a wrongful death claim may help ease the burden for many during this difficult time.

The wrongful death lawsuit will help them move forward financially even though they will never be able to overcome their grief or loss of their loved one’s presence. An injury lawyer can help a family recover damages such as:

  • Costs associated with funerals and burials can be recouped.
  • The decedent’s wages and benefit losses may be recovered from the time of the deceased’s demise until their retirement age.
  • The decedent’s support, guidance, and training were lost to the family’s children, which can be compensated.
  • It is possible for a spouse to claim loss of consortium.

Personal injury lawyers are important to choose based on several factors. Accident attorney Ed Smith offers these tips:
