Crash Kills Two Sacramento Women

Two women from Sacramento passed away Saturday in a tragic traffic collision after crashing with a pickup truck in Nevada County along Highway 20, authorities said.

What Happened?

The accident happened around 3:00 p.m. in the vicinity of the Marin Sierra exit, according to authorities.

Brandon Butler, 27, a resident of South Lake Tahoe said his life flashed right before his eyes.

Butler described driving on Highway 20 in the westbound direction of travel. He said he had two friends riding with him in his truck. They were headed to Emerald Pools.

Lady Pulled Out In Front Of His Truck

Butler said a lady in a Chevy pickup truck pulled out right in front of him. He hit the brakes to try and avoid a collision but the two trucks collided. He does not believe the lady ever saw him.

Butler crashed into the front of the pickup truck, causing both vehicles to flip over coming to a rest on their roofs, according to authorities.

The force of the collision sent the Chevy nearly 80 feet from the initial impact site, authorities said. Sadly, both women in the Chevy pickup passed away immediately due to the severe nature of their injuries.

Others Received Minor Injuries

The two passengers in Butler’s pickup were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. They are expected to make a complete recovery.

Butler received a gash on his forehead and other minor injuries. He is also expected to make a complete recovery. He said the fatal crash caused him to be scared and was at a loss for words. He explained that this type of incident happens so fast and really messes with your life.

No Alcohol or Drugs a Factor

No drugs or alcohol appeared to be a factor. Butler was travelling at the speed limit at the time of the crash.

The collision prompted a roadway closure for about four hours, Caltrans said.
