Accident on Marconi Avenue Includes Double T-Bone Crash

A multiple-vehicle crash occurred in Carmichael on May 13, involving a double T-bone accident. The collision occurred along Marconi Avenue between Walnut and Root avenues around 3:24 p.m. The accident was reported by a caller to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) who said they heard but did not see the accident.

Minor Injuries Reported in Violent Carmichael Crash

Two of the vehicles were T-boned, and tow trucks were called to remove a Toyota SUV and BMW with major front-end damage. Fortunately, only minor injuries were reported in the collision. An investigation is underway by the CHP to determine how the multiple-vehicle crash occurred and to assign fault.

Injuries Common in a T-Bone Accident

A car accident involving a T-bone typically results in one of the following types of trauma:

  • Cervical strain or sprain: When a driver or passenger is hit from the side, their heads are often thrown sideways, causing cervical strain or sprain, commonly called whiplash. Within a few months, a whiplash injury normally heals. A chronic injury can, however, last for a long time and prevent that person from working or enjoying himself or herself. It can also cause herniated discs or pinched nerves in the spine due to such sudden sideways motions. To remedy the damage, surgery is often necessary. Sometimes, permanent damage occurs.
  • Fractures: A T-bone accident can result in hip or leg fractures. This is because the other vehicle will strike the hip or leg area at about this height. Surgical treatment and rehabilitation are often required after hip and leg fractures.
  • Traumatic brain injuries: Accidents involving T-bones can result in traumatic brain injuries ranging from concussions to hemorrhages. The close proximity of side airbags to the head can sometimes result in a brain or head injury, even though many newer vehicles have them. When brain injuries are more serious, cognitive changes may occur, including memory loss and additional problems that require extensive treatment and hospitalization.
  • Shoulder trauma: When T-bone collisions occur, damage to the shoulder’s tendons and muscles in the rotator cuff can happen because of the upper harness or the impact. Damaged rotator cuffs often require surgical repair. Although surgery is often successful, it can leave the patient weak and requires a long recuperative period to heal.

Collecting Compensation Following a T-Bone Accident

It is essential to find evidence of the cause of a T-bone accident, whether it was a driver error or a mechanical issue, to support compensation claims. Our team of injury lawyers has handled numerous accidents successfully over the years and maybe we can help you too.

The inconvenience and pain of being injured because someone else’s negligence is difficult enough without having to worry about the financial loss as well. As attorneys, we work very hard to ensure that our clients are compensated fairly for their losses.

A personal injury claim will allow a client to be compensated for all of their medical expenses, wages lost due to the inability to work and for their pain and suffering. The settlement includes future medical costs and lost wages if the injury is expected to persist.
