Madison Avenue Intersection Crash Involves Two Vehicles

A North Highlands two-vehicle intersection crash caused an injury on March 8. The collision occurred at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Jackson Street just before 10:00 a.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers who responded to the accident said it involved a Honda Accord and Honda SUV.

Minor Injury Reported in Accident

The intersection was blocked by the crash, and emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department were called to the site to assess injuries. A minor injury was reported. The accident is being investigated by the CHP to determine how it happened.

An Intersection Is a Dangerous Place

An intersection is the site of more than 50 percent of all crashes, and negligent drivers are responsible for most of them. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists are all present at these crossroads, complicating traffic, making it more likely to cause accidents. Some common causes of collisions include:

  • Drivers who are speeding cannot stop in time when a light changes. Many rear-end collisions occur because another motorist is already stopped.
  • An intersection accident is often caused by drivers who run a red light.
  • Injuries to motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are caused by a driver who is negligently turning right.
  • An intersection crash can result from making an improper left turn. By turning just as the arrow changes to red, a driver is expecting to pass through the intersection ahead of oncoming traffic.
  • Nighttime is the worst time for fatigued drivers. It is often difficult for a driver who is fatigued to realize they are too tired to drive. But if they drift out of the lane or nod off, they are at high risk of an accident.
  • Drivers who are distracted by texting or performing another activity tend to lose their focus on traffic around them.
  • Traffic collisions, including intersection crashes, are frequently caused by drunk drivers.
  • An intersection crash can be caused by an auto defect such as a sticking accelerator, brake failure, or locked steering wheel. An auto product liability claim can hold the manufacturer responsible. A vehicle should be retained following an injury collision, so it can be checked for defects.
  • There can be a crash at an intersection due to potholes, traffic lights that do not function, and other problems. This can be the fault of the government entity responsible for maintaining the intersection.

Intersection Accident Investigation

It is important to gather evidence to support a claim for compensation when someone has been injured by a negligent driver or for another reason. These are just a few of the areas in which our investigators look for evidence, and they include:

  • We check to see if there are any traffic cameras in the area that captured the intersection accident. A subpoena can be served to obtain proof of negligence.
  • Because an error could affect the case for compensation, the police report is examined for errors.
  • During accident reconstruction, the crash positions and ways in which the collision occurred are mapped out.
  • The intersection is investigated by interviewing any witnesses. Cell phones may have been used by some to tape the accident that occurred.

To ensure our client’s compensation claim is successful, our injury lawyers compile the gathered evidence into a powerful case.
