Yuba City Area Highway Collision Kills One

According to officers of Yuba City California Highway Patrol (CHP), one woman sadly lost her life during an area crash on Monday, November 19, 2018. The collision happened only a short distance to the south of Yuba City in a highway location. The accident reportedly involved two separate vehicles and left one more individual with injuries. The woman was identified by authorities as a 74-year-old resident of Minnesota. However, her full identity is still being withheld pending the notification of her family. Additionally, CHP is actively investigating possible causes of the accident. My condolences are sent out to the grieving family of the fatally injured woman while they are enduring such a difficult loss.

Crash Information

According to reports, the Minnesota woman had been driving a Kia Rio along Highway 99 before the crash. She was stopped at the intersection of Oswald Road around one mile south of Yuba City while a Ford F-150 approached her location. The pickup truck, driven by a 48-year-old man from Live Oak, entered the intersection in the slow lane. Officers say that, for unknown reasons, the Kia pulled out into the intersection, blocking the path of the Ford. The pickup truck broadsided the Kia, causing major damage.

Response

CHP reported that emergency staff were immediately sent to respond to the crash. Responders say that they found the woman in her vehicle at the accident scene. Tragically, the woman had suffered severe injuries and was declared deceased on-site. The driver of the pickup truck complained of pain to medical officials but was reportedly not taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigation

Investigators say that both drivers involved in the collision had been properly wearing seat belts when the crash took place. Additionally, neither driver is suspected to have been under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. So far, no suspected crash factors have been detailed by investigators. Accidents such as this one can happen for a variety of reasons including medical emergencies, fatigue, hazardous roads, defective vehicle parts, and more.

Calling an Attorney

After a fatal accident, many people are left feeling intense emotions. These emotions can be overwhelming and often make daily tasks difficult to focus on. During such a difficult period, people often don’t want to think about calling a lawyer. However, it is important to get in touch with a lawyer right away in order to recover the money they are owed for wrongful death damages. A good attorney will be able to answer all your questions with detail and compassion and can take care of your case for you, leaving you with time and space to heal emotionally.
