Fatal Siskiyou Yreka Car Accident

Man Killed in Yreka Car Accident

Officers from Yreka area California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a serious local car accident on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. The collision reportedly occurred in a rural area outside of Yreka and left a Siskiyou County man with severe injuries that eventually cost him his life. The man was identified as a 69-year-old resident of the community of Etna. However, authorities are waiting to release his full identity until they have completed notifying his family. CHP says that the collision involved only one vehicle and that officers are still investigating possible causes. I’d like to extend condolences to the grieving loved ones who’ve tragically lost a family member and friend because of this accident.

Crash Details

CHP’s reports indicate that the crash happened just after 9:45 a.m. on Highway 3 in rural Siskiyou County a few miles southeast of Yreka. A blue Ford Focus had been traveling on the highway when it veered toward the right for unknown reasons. The vehicle eventually traveled off of the road and continued a short distance before it struck a tree just north of Naomi Drive outside of Etna. Further details about the accident were unavailable.

Emergency Response

Responders were sent out to the scene of the crash directly after CHP was alerted to it. When emergency officials arrived, they found a single occupant in the Ford who had suffered severe trauma. The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Yreka Fairchild Medical Center where he was provided with emergency care. However, he was tragically unable to recover from his injuries and passed away while in hospital care.

Fatal Collision Investigation

While CHP investigators are looking into what may have caused this fatal collision, no suspected crash factors have been mentioned in any reports. Single-vehicle crashes are common and can happen for a number of reasons. Some of the more common factors in single-vehicle accidents include phantom drivers, medical emergencies, faulty vehicle parts such as tires, brakes, or steering systems, hazards in the roadway, and more.

Wrongful Death Damages

When people lose their lives in vehicle accidents, their families are often left with serious emotional and financial issues. Learning to live without the love and support of someone you care about can be one of the most difficult things you ever go through and having to deal with losing a source of income and paying for funeral expenses, medical bills, and other costs at the same time can be overwhelming. However, those who’ve lost somebody in a crash are often able to claim money for these losses through a “wrongful death claim.” The purpose of these claims is to hold responsible parties accountable for the damages they’ve caused and to provide relief to grieving families and dependents.

To learn more about how wrongful death claims work or to get helpful advice about your specific situation, you should speak with an experienced and trusted Yreka wrongful death lawyer.
