Young Boy Suffers Major Trauma in Santa Rosa Crash

On Sunday, September 29, 2019, a Santa Rosa crash left a 10-year-old boy with severe injuries. Officers of the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) stated that the accident happened in the afternoon and involved multiple vehicles. In addition to the seriously injured boy, a 22-year-old woman and 11-year-old girl were also hospitalized for treatment of what officials said were minor injuries. Updates on the boy’s conditions were unavailable at the time of reporting.

Crash Details

According to SRPD, the crash happened at around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Stony Point Road and Yuba drive in the southwestern section of Santa Rosa. The 22-year-old woman had been driving south on Stony Point Road in a Hyundai Sonata and was turning at the intersection to enter eastbound Yuba Drive. At this time, a 62-year-old man driving a Dodge Caravan northbound on Stony point entered the intersection and eventually collided head-on with the side of the Hyundai.

Emergency staff were immediately sent out to respond to the accident by SRPD. When responders reached the crash scene, they found that the 10-year-old boy was trapped inside the wrecked Hyundai. Firefighters used heavy equipment to extricate the boy from the vehicle before determining that he had suffered serious head injuries. The boy was rushed to a local hospital where he was given emergency care before being airlifted to a larger out-of-county hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the Hyundai, as well as a second 11-year-old passenger, were taken to a local hospital by ambulance in order to receive care for minor injuries as well as screening for more serious trauma. Whether or not the driver of the Dodge suffered any injuries was not reported.

SRPD has indicated that its officers are currently trying to find out what factors caused this accident. As investigators are looking into the incident, police have asked for help from the public. Traumatic Brain Injuries

Traumatic brain injuries are common in vehicle accidents and can cause a very wide range of symptoms. Recovering from these injuries can take a long time, and it can be difficult for crash survivors and their families to adjust during this period. For many, recovering from a serious traumatic brain injury requires multiple medical procedures as well as physical therapy and medications. In many cases, families need to make modifications to their homes to make them accessible to the injured person.

All of this can be very emotionally difficult for crash survivors and their loved ones, and dealing with an event like this takes strength and support. Unfortunately, recovering from serious injuries can also be expensive, and many people are unsure of how they will be able to afford all of the necessary expenses.

Calling a Lawyer
