Woodland Motorcyclist Fatality

I’m Ed Smith, a Woodland Motorcycle Accident Lawyer. A woman from Woodland was tragically killed while out riding her motorcycle on Sunday, April 3, 2016.

What Happened?

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 58-year-old woman from Woodland, was headed east on Highway 16 on her motorcycle. Just west of the Cache Creek Bridge the woman for some unknown reason drifted over the double yellow lines and entered the westbound lanes of travel.

The woman and her motorcycle went down, sliding underneath the front of a GMC pick up truck that was headed west on Highway 16. Tragically, the motorcyclist was fatally wounded. A 66-year-old man of Maxwell who was driving the GMC was was not injured in the accident. The identity of the female motorcyclist has not been released to the public.

What Caused the Woodland Motorcyclist Fatality

An investigation is being performed by the CHP. Alcohol and/or drugs did not appear to be a factor. An experienced motorcycle accident lawyer can investigate the accident scene to determine if there were contributing factors that could have caused the accident to happen. Sometimes other factors to be considered in causing a collision may be a road defect, a phantom vehicle or an inoperative traffic signal that could have contributed to or caused a traffic fatality.
