Woman Fatally Injured in Napa Auto Accident

On Thursday, February 4, 2021, one person sadly lost her life during a Napa auto accident. The accident reportedly involved multiple passenger vehicles and happened in the afternoon in the southeastern side of the city. Napa County authorities are currently withholding the identity of the decedent. In addition to the decedent, one other person was taken to the hospital after the crash. The Napa Police Department (NPD) has this accident under investigation.

Crash Information

According to NPD, the collision happened at approximately 2:14 p.m. at the intersection of Silverado Trail and Soscol Avenue a few blocks north of the Napa State Hospital. Police stated that a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta was driving northbound on Sosol when it entered the intersection. At the same time, a 2001 BMW SUV was making a left-hand turn leaving southbound Soscol in order to enter Silverado Trail. The two vehicles collided inside of the intersection, causing major damage.

Response

Witnesses called police, and NPD immediately dispatched a response team. Upon arrival, responders found the driver and passenger of the Volkswagen had both suffered injuries. Initially, responders thought that both women had only sustained minor trauma but still had them both transported by an American Medical Response ambulance to the Queen of the Valley Hospital.

However, at the hospital, the driver’s condition quickly deteriorated and she sadly passed away despite lifesaving efforts from medical providers. The condition of the passenger was not reported. The BMW driver, who was the only occupant of the SUV, declined medical care at the scene.

Investigation

As NPD investigates the crash, police have reported that there is no evidence that either of the drivers were impaired at the time of the accident. According to reports, the intersection remained closed to traffic until around 6:15 p.m. while officers conducted initial investigations of the crash scene. However, no suspected factors have been confirmed.

Accidents that involve more than one vehicle also often involve multiple causes. Furthermore, car accident factors are commonly non-driver causes like faulty auto parts, malfunctioning traffic signals, or dangerously designed roads.

Private Investigations are Critical

A deadly accident makes it very hard for police to conduct a thorough investigation. Without being able to interview the decedent, officers may not get a full picture of what occurred, possibly meaning that your family won’t be able to hold at-fault parties financially responsible. To make sure that an accident receives a full investigation, it’s critical to have help from a Napa wrongful death attorney. Your attorney can use their own resources to investigate while prioritizing your family’s ability to claim compensation.
