Woman Seriously Injured in Redding Car Crash
On Friday, April 2, 2021, a woman was seriously hurt during a Redding car crash. Reports from the Redding Police Department (RPD) indicate that the crash happened in the early afternoon and involved two separate vehicles. Additionally, one other person was injured during the crash but reportedly only suffered minor trauma. At this time, investigations into the accident’s cause are still being conducted.
Crash Information
According to RPD, the car crash took place at about 1:40 p.m. on Riverland Drive near the Knighton Road intersection. Police stated that a white four-door sedan was traveling on Knighton when the driver attempted to pass another vehicle. While attempting to pass, the sedan overcorrected, and the driver apparently lost control. Afterward, the sedan sideswiped a white work truck and then drove off-road, eventually crashing into a nearby electrical pole. The impact caused serious damage to the passenger’s side of the vehicle, crushing the front-passenger door inward.
Response
Witnesses contacted RPD and dispatchers sent a response team to the area. On scene, paramedics determined that a woman inside of the sedan had sustained major injuries. She was immediately transported to a local hospital to receive treatment. Details regarding her injuries and health condition haven’t been reported. Additionally, whether or not the other individual was hospitalized was also unreported.

While they are investigating the incident, RPD officials haven’t released any information about suspected causes.
