Woman Killed in El Dorado County Rollover Crash; Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

A woman killed in El Dorado County rollover crash Sunday evening, July 5, 2026, and the driver was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Fatal Crash on Fairplay Road

The collision was reported at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Fairplay Road, north of Stoney Creek Road.

Officers with the CHP’s Placerville Division responded to reports of an overturned vehicle and arrived to find a 1959 MG coupe overturned at the scene.

Emergency responders attempted to assist those involved, but a female passenger died as a result of the crash.

Driver Arrested

Following the investigation, authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.

The suspect was booked into the El Dorado County Jail.

Investigation Continues

The identity of the woman who died has not yet been released pending notification of her family.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal rollover crash.
