Woman Killed in Butte County Crash

During the night of Sunday, January 20, 2019, a major auto accident took place in Butte County close to Oroville. California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the car crash left one person with fatal injuries. The incident happened during the night on a local highway. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office identified the woman shortly after the wreck took place. She was identified as Crystal Haight, A 20-year-old from Marysville. Additionally, three other people were critically injured during the crash. Reports have stated that their conditions remain critical. My sympathy is sent to the Haight’s mourning family and friends after this tragedy.

Crash Details

CHP said that the crash happened on Highway 70 south of Oroville. Haight was driving on the highway close to the Cox Lane intersection. For unknown reasons, she lost control of her vehicle between Palermo and Robinson’s corner. Haight’s car veered into the opposite traffic lane where it entered the path of another vehicle. The two cars crashed head-on at high speeds. Officers say that one of the cars had been traveling at speeds of around 90 miles per hour. The crash caused at least one of the cars to catch on fire.

Response

CHP sent accident responders to the crash site right away. When responders arrived, they found multiple people with major injuries. Sadly, Haight’s trauma was too severe, and she passed away at the accident scene. The passenger of Haight’s car was found with major trauma and rushed to a hospital to be given emergency care. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were identified as a 69-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man. The man was flown to Enloe Medical Center on a helicopter ambulance for treatment of a shattered pelvis and facial fractures. The woman was also put on an air ambulance but was taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital to be treated for internal bleeding and fractured ribs.

Calling a Lawyer

Accidents can be very emotionally difficult. People who have been affected by a crash often experience strong emotions that can make it hard to deal with everyday life. Taking time to process your emotions is important. However, you should not let this keep you from speaking to an attorney. After a serious or fatal crash, people are often left with major costs that they do not know how they will be able to pay for. A good lawyer can help you understand what your options are for recovering money for the damages you have suffered.

One reason that people delay calling a lawyer is that they don’t know how they can find a trustworthy attorney. There are a few good ways to make sure that your lawyer knows what they are doing. To learn about how to find a good lawyer, watch the below YouTube video.
