Woman Loses Life in Alleged Marysville DUI

One person lost her life after she was involved in an alleged Marysville DUI car crash. Yuba County authorities have identified the woman as 55-year-old Marysville resident Dawn Ritter. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision occurred late at night and involved two vehicles. Additionally, police indicated that one of the drivers involved in the crash was arrested.

Crash Details

The accident occurred at about 11:17 at the intersection of Ninth and B streets. According to CHP, Ritter was driving a 1998 Toyota Tacoma and was driving through the intersection when her vehicle was broadsided by a 2004 Toyota Solara being driven by a 27-year-old man from Sacramento. Police stated that the Solara had previously been driving southbound on Highway 70 at a speed exceeding 100 miles per hour.

Response

Police had been previously alerted to the Solara and arrived at the accident scene quickly after the crash occurred. Emergency medical officials at the scene found that Ritter had suffered major injuries. Tragically, she passed away at the scene.

The Solara driver was placed under arrest on-site on charges of driving under the influence and subsequently booked into the Yuba County jail. CHP has reported that investigations into this incident are ongoing.

The Impact of a Fatal Accident

The death of a loved one is never an easy thing to do, and those who’ve lost someone due to an unexpected car crash often experience intense grieving. After hearing the news, people often feel overwhelmed and may even be unable to keep up with their daily lives while they are coping with their grief. In these situations, people often find comfort by seeking support from their families and friends.

However, grief isn’t the only issue families face after a deadly crash. After losing a person in your family, you may also lose a critical source of income for your household. Frequently, families in this situation worry about how they will be able to afford their bills as well as pay for funeral and burial expenses. Additionally, families are also often left with bills for medical services their loved one received before they passed away.

Getting Help

The above issues are very serious, but families can reach out for help. A Marysville wrongful death lawyer can help you understand what payments you and your family can claim from at-fault parties and/or insurance companies. The payments available through wrongful death claims often give families the financial security that they deserve in a very difficult period of their lives.

However, wrongful death cases can be complicated, and liable parties may try to avoid financial responsibility. For these reasons, it is vital to know that your attorney is an expert when it comes to wrongful death claims.
