Accident on the Cap City Freeway Occurs Between Motorcyclist and Pickup

A minor injury was reported in a motorcycle crash in West Sacramento on March 8. The accident occurred around 9:29 a.m. along the Capital City Freeway at the Harbor Boulevard on-ramp, according to the report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). It occurred when the motorcycle rider collided with a Ford F-250 pickup.

Traffic Lanes Not Blocked by Minor Injury Motorcycle Accident

None of the traffic lanes were blocked by the collision. Both vehicles were found by officers along the right-hand side. Arrangements to tow the Valkyrie motorcycle involved in the crash, which sustained moderate damage, were made by the owner.

The injured rider was transported by medics to UC Davis Medical Center for additional evaluation and treatment of their injuries. Investigators are determining how the accident occurred to assign fault.

Motorcyclists Sometimes Experience Unfair Treatment

Serious injuries often result from motorcycle accidents with motor vehicles. A rider may feel pressured to take a low settlement by an insurance company because of medical bills and lost wages. Unfortunately, if the rider settles their claim too quickly, they may be left with mounting medical expenses and be unable to work.

Obtaining Fair Compensation From the Insurance Company

Our team at AutoAccident.com knows how insurance companies avoid paying fair settlements. Our law firm knows how to counter those arguments and get fair compensation for an injured motorcyclist. We have successfully handled so many motorcycle claims; I even released a booklet on Amazon called The California Motorcycle Accident Handbook. It answers questions commonly asked by a rider following an injury accident and is free to read online.

Causes of Motor Vehicle Collisions With Motorcycles

While most riders understand the devastating impact of a motorcycle crash with a motor vehicle, there are times when accidents cannot be avoided. A motorcycle accident is often caused by the following types of negligence on the part of drivers:

  • Motorcycle accidents are frequently caused by speeding. An accident involving a speeding driver can be life-threatening to a rider since a passenger vehicle motorist will need more time and distance to stop.
  • Motorcyclists are often involved in accidents due to distracted drivers, who are texting, changing stations on the radio or doing other things that take their attention off the road.
  • The most common reason for a motorcycle crash is caused by a passenger vehicle turning in front of it. A motorist making a left turn from a parking lot in the middle of the street can hit a rider.
  • Ejection from a motorcycle can occur when a driver hits it in the back or stops short in front of one. Ejection from a motorcycle often causes broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, and other serious problems.
  • A driver who is drunk can cause a motorcycle crash. It is difficult for motorcycle riders to avoid a collision with a drunk driver since they weave in and out of lanes and accelerate and slow down.

Collecting Evidence for a Motorcycle Crash Claim

In order to collect the evidence needed to support your claim, your motorcycle accident lawyer in West Sacramento will conduct an investigation. As in other cases involving personal injuries, you owe nothing until you win. In addition to examining traffic cameras in the area for footage of the collision, interviewing witnesses, and performing accident reconstruction, evidence collection can take the form of collecting information from witnesses.
