Water Heater Explosion
I’m Ed Smith, a Stockton Personal Injury Attorney. Recently, a water heater explosion at a home in the southern area of Stockton killed one of the residents and left the rest of the family without their loved one and a home.
What Happened?
The father was trying to repair his hot water heater earlier this week when it unexpectedly exploded. He suffered third degree burns to the majority of his body which only worsened because he was trapped in the garage. Third degree burns completely wipe away the skin, destroying the nerves and blood vessels that supply oxygen to the vital organs. One of his neighbors rescued him from the garage, but it was too late. He was transported by emergency medical personnel to the UC Davis Medical Center in nearby Sacramento. There, he passed away shortly after arrival.
Water Heater Fire Spreads
While this was going on, the fire continued to spread throughout the rest of the home, quickly destroying the entire property. The now fatherless family has to quickly find a new place to live without any of their possessions because most of their belongings, including the furniture, went up in flames with the rest of the home. A family that was worrying about their Thanksgiving and Christmas preparations is now forced to find a new place to call home.

Community Member Forever Remembered
Fortunately, the community is rallying together. The father, Jaime Gonzales, is survived by his wife and three children. His eldest son attends Edison High School, where the community is gathering as one to support the Gonzales family. His son is one of the top students in his class and widely regarded by his teachers and classmates as having a bright future. He has dreams of being the first in his family to attend college. With the support of his friends and teachers, he and his siblings must find a way to push through the rest of the school year. The school is holding a fund raiser to help the family get back on its feet. There is also a Go Fund Me page to raise more money to assist the family with the expenses related to the disaster.
