Oroville Major Injury Crash Occurs on Larkin Road

An Oroville major injury crash happened on July 26 when two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision. The collision occurred around 10:00 a.m. on Larkin Road at the bridge for the Feather River outlet. The two vehicles involved were a Dodge Ram 1500 and a GMC SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP)

One Person Transported to Hospital With Major Injuries

The accident blocked all the lanes, and one person in the GMC showed a visible injury. Wreckers removed both vehicles from the scene. The injured person was transported with a major injury to a nearby hospital for care. The roadway was reopened by 11:00 a.m. A determination of the cause of the major injury crash is underway by CHP traffic collision investigators.

Causes of an Oroville Major Injury Crash Involving a Head-On

Head-on crashes are an incredibly serious type of car accident involving two vehicles colliding with each other while traveling in opposite directions. There are a variety of factors that can lead to this type of collision, some of which include:

  • Driver negligence or recklessness such as speeding, being under the influence of drugs and alcohol, failing to yield the right-of-way, or distracted driving can cause an Oroville major injury crash.
  • Poor weather conditions, including heavy rain, snow, fog and ice, cause accidents when a vehicle slides into the opposing lane.
  • Mechanical failures such as brake failure or problems with steering systems can make the driver lose control and lead to an Oroville major injury crash. An auto product liability claim may be placed against the manufacturer if a defect in the vehicle caused the crash. This is why it is important not to destroy the vehicle until it has been examined.
  • Driver fatigue leads to reduced reaction time and impaired judgment and has been compared to driving drunk, a common cause of accidents.
  • Animals on the road cause drivers to swerve out of their lane unexpectedly and become involved in an Oroville major injury crash.
  • Road maintenance problems such as narrow shoulders, potholes, upheavals in the pavement and others can lead to an accident of this type. The government agency responsible for the roadway’s upkeep can be held liable, but because the time limit to file this type of claim is six months, getting help from an accident lawyer is a good idea.
