Vehicle Crashes into CVS in North Auburn During Suspected Burglary Attempt

A vehicle crashes into CVS in North Auburn through the front entrance of the pharmacy early Thursday morning, May 21, 2026, in what investigators believe was an attempted burglary, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Crash Happened Along Highway 49

Authorities said the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. at the CVS store located off Highway 49. Deputies responding to the scene discovered that a Subaru had crashed through the front doors of the business, causing significant damage to the entrance.

Suspect Fled in Second Vehicle

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage showing the driver of the Subaru entering the store after the crash before quickly running back outside and getting into a second vehicle that fled the area.
Officials stated that no one was inside the business at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.

Stolen Vehicle Used in Crash

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office determined that the Subaru involved in the crash had previously been reported stolen out of Sacramento. Authorities also stated that it does not appear anything was taken from the store during the attempted burglary.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

Detectives continue investigating the incident and are working to identify the individuals involved. Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation develops.
