Rural Bay Area Collision Fatally Injures Vallejo Resident

On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, a Vallejo resident suffered fatal injuries as the result of a car accident that happened on a rural road in the Bay Area. Local California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers report that the accident involved just one vehicle and that no other individuals were inside of the car at the time of the crash. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department has not released the name of the decedent, but identified him as a 64-year-old man from Vallejo.

Crash Information

The accident happened on Carquinez Scenic Drive to the west of the intersection at Canyon Lake Drive near Port Costa. The Vallejo man was driving a gray Dodge Grand Caravan heading north on Carquinez Scenic Drive when, for reasons that police do not understand, the vehicle drifted to the side of the road, eventually driving on the roadway shoulder. Shortly after, the car continued over the shoulder and traveled down a nearby embankment, coming to a rest after striking a tree.

Response

CHP responded to the accident immediately after receiving notification. Responders at the site discovered that the driver of the Dodge was ejected through the front windshield of his vehicle during the accident and found him lying on the ground with critical injuries. Tragically, medical officials pronounced him deceased on-site.

Investigation

At this time, CHP reports that they are engaged in an active investigation of this tragic accident. However, officers haven’t issued any reports regarding factors they believe could have played a role in causing the crash.

Often, solo-vehicle collisions occur for more than a single reason and may involve factors outside driver control. Non-driver auto accident factors commonly include things like using vehicles with faulty parts or driving on roads that have poor lighting, missing signage, or other hazards. In these cases, parties that weren’t present at the accident scene, such as auto product manufacturers and government bodies, may share fiscal responsibility for the collision.

Why Private Investigations Matter

A collision like this one can be a challenge for investigators. With no survivors and possibly no witnesses, police may have a hard time uncovering all of the relevant evidence, possibly leaving families without the ability to claim fair compensation for what they’ve lost. By getting in touch with a Vallejo wrongful death lawyer, families can make sure the accident is investigated by an experienced professional who prioritizes their right to compensation.

Wrongful Death Damages

Truly recovering what you’ve lost after a fatal accident is sadly impossible, and coping with grief can be a long, difficult process. However, families can seek payments that provide them with financial security during a difficult time. By filing a wrongful death claim, it is possible to hold at-fault parties and insurance companies responsible for your family’s lost income and services as well as for funeral expenses, personal suffering, and more.

For details about what payments might be available to you, it’s important to consult with an expert wrongful death attorney in your area.
