Vallejo Neighborhood Speed Bump Request

The mother desires an integrated speed bump for her neighborhood street for the safety of her children and her neighbors. For this way, motorists in her neighborhood are not speeding and causing hazards to pedestrians.

The mother, Alicia King, is a Vallejo resident living along Alhambra Avenue. The mother of four enjoys spending time outside with her kids. However, King worries about the safety of her children and others playing in her neighborhood when cars go racing down the street. King has made the point that drivers do not recognize or pay attention to the speed limit speed limit because of the design of the street. The street faces Interstate 80 but does not lead to an appropriate exit. According to King, she has attempted to contact Vallejo officials to create a speed bump in her street. Unfortunately, the City of Vallejo’s webpage states the city’s budget funding does not cover for neighborhood speed bump installments. The city does allow anyone to pay for speed bump installments through their own community fundraising efforts.
What Happened?
On the night of Thursday, September 1, 2016, a high speed pursuit took place in King’s neighborhood at 10:30 pm. According to King, she was at ease that none of her family members were outside at the time of the chase. For this reason, King is afraid of reckless motorists driving at high rates of speed that could potentially kill somebody. King believes that a speed bump in her neighborhood may reduce the occurence of speeders travelling through her area.
