Vallejo Motorist Injured on I-80
I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo car accident lawyer. On Saturday, August 12, 2017, a Vallejo driver sustained serious injuries after a rollover accident on the city’s major highway.
Accident Info
California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued reports detailing that the collision occurred at about 12:00 am on Highway Interstate 80’s eastbound side. The vehicle was reported to have crashed a short distance west of the off-ramp for Redwood Parkway.
CHP reported that a 2017 Ford Mustang had been driving east on the freeway when the driver apparently lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off of the road and down a nearby embankment where it collided with multiple trees.
Response and Injury
CHP received a phone call indicating that a vehicle had crashed off of the side of the freeway and immediately sent first responders to the scene. Responders discovered upon arrival that the driver of the Mustang had received major injuries during the impact including serious lacerations. The driver was transported by ambulance to a nearby emergency room for immediate medical care.
Investigation
This incident is currently under investigation by CHP. So far, officers do not know what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle and haven’t mentioned if driving while intoxicated is suspected to have contributed to the accident. The accident may have been caused by a variety of factors including distraction, dangerous roadway conditions, driving at excess speeds, unsafe lane changing, and more.
Other Vallejo Car Accidents
Vallejo has seen fewer accidents in recent weeks than it has in the past. However, some of the more recent accidents to occur in Vallejo have caused fatal and serious injuries.
One such collision occurred on Monday, August 7, 2017, when a Vallejo man lost his life as the result of a rollover collision. CHP reported that the driver made an unsafe turn which caused his vehicle to overturn. While the vehicle was rolling, the man was ejected from the car through a window, causing him to receive fatal trauma.
Another recent accident occurred on Friday, July 21, 2017, when a crash that involved multiple vehicles resulted in serious injuries and hospitalization for three individuals. The collision reportedly occurred at around 12:30 p.m. at Springs Road and Oakwood Avenue. Police reports indicated that a man driving a U-Haul truck suffered a medical emergency and lost control of his vehicle before colliding with three other vehicles and a mailbox.
