Vallejo Injury Accident

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo auto accident attorney. On Saturday, November 19, 2016 in Vallejo, a car crashed into a wall off of Sonoma Boulevard after being pursued by a police vehicle for a few miles, hospitalizing both of its occupants. The pursuit started around 1:00 a.m. when officers from the Vallejo Police Department found the car, a blue colored Honda Civic of unreported year, and identified it as a vehicle that had been reported stolen the previous evening in an armed car-jacking in neighboring Fairfield.

Police Pulled Vehicle Over

The Vallejo Police Department reported that the officers had initially made an attempt to pull the car over. However, the driver did not comply. Instead, the driver accelerated the car rapidly beyond the speed limit. The vehicle proceeded to ignore the sirens of the pursuing police vehicle and sped through multiple red lights while headed south down Sonoma Boulevard after just having turned off of Florida Street.

Vehicle Collided Into Retaining Wall

The officers mentioned in their report that it appeared as if the driver had lost the ability to control the vehicle some time prior to its colliding with the cement retaining wall attached to a parking area located a small distance north of the intersection at Jeffrey Alley. They described noticing the car swerving back and forth with no apparent driver control before it veered off the road and into the wall. This may suggest that the incident was caused in part by the impairment of the driver due to alcohol and/or drugs. Police will continue to investigate to determine if this incident was also a drunk driving accident.

Traumatic Injuries Sustained in Crash

Upon reaching the motor vehicle accident, the officers found a teenage driver and passenger trapped inside. The driver was a male, 19-year-old resident of Richmond, and the passenger a male, 18-year old resident of Antioch. Both needed to be extracted from the crumpled vehicle by heavy machinery, and removing them took extensive work from a team of emergency responders. After both had been safely removed from the crashed Civic, an ambulance took them to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment of what were reported to be traumatic injuries. The exact nature of these injuries has not been released to the public, but it is not expected that these injuries will be fatal.

Police Search Crashed Vehicle

In searching the car, the officers found no real weaponry or intoxicants. However, they did find a model firearm that could have been the weapon brandished in the reported car-jacking that had occurred in Fairfield the previous evening. Though the weapon was reported as being a real gun, it remains possible that the victims were not aware of the firearm being only a replica.

Police are still investigating the Vallejo injury accident along with the associated armed car robbery and asked any person that may have information regarding either incident to call Officer Waylon Boyce at the Vallejo Police Department-Traffic Division at this number – (707) 648-4013.
