Vallejo Fatality Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo auto accident lawyer. A group of friends were driving together in Vallejo during the early morning hours of March 1, 2018. The group was involved in a serious auto accident which, unfortunately, caused fatal injuries to two people.

My sincere thoughts and sympathy are with the loved ones of the two parties that lost their lives in this devastating accident.

Collision Details

The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) responded to the scene of an auto accident at the intersection of Solano Avenue and Sonoma Boulevard at approximately 1:55 am. A woman was driving her 2001 Honda Civic through the intersection when she lost control of her vehicle and collided with a nearby pole. The impact of the collision allegedly sheared the Honda in half. There were no other vehicles reported to have been involved in the crash.

Nature of Injuries

The two rear-seat passengers of the Honda suffered severe injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the driver and front-seat passenger were declared deceased at the scene.

Coroner Identifies Victims

The Solano County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims of the accident as 26-year-old Santaleighsa Gonzalez and 24-year-old Priscilla Rosario, both from Vallejo.

Investigation

Preliminary investigations conducted by VPD suggested that the vehicle occupants had been drinking alcohol prior to the accident. It was also determined by authorities that the vehicle entered the intersection traveling westbound from Solano Avenue at high speeds. It has also been reported that inclement conditions may have been a significant collision factor.

Vallejo Accidents

Officers from the VPD have reported that 2018 has seen an unusually high number of fatal accidents with six fatal accidents so far, mostly involving pedestrians. While Vallejo normally experiences six to eight total traffic accident fatalities each year, only three fatal collisions occurred in 2017. The city has launched a pedestrian safety effort program in order to prevent more collisions from costing more lives. The program includes increased enforcement at key locations in the city and is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
