Ukiah Crash Hospitalizes Three

I’m Ed Smith, a Ukiah personal injury lawyer. On Monday, June 5, 2017, a rollover car accident just north of Ukiah sent three people to the hospital.

Accident Details

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) told reporters that the crash happened at about 4 p.m. on Highway 101 only about five miles north of Ukiah in Calpella. According to CHP’s report, a blue Ford Focus accelerated at the wrong time and rear-ended the white pickup truck that had been driving in front of it. The collision reportedly caused the truck to overturn in front of the Ford. The Ford eventually pushed the overturned pickup truck off of the highway.

Injuries

Emergency responders found three individuals had been involved in the accident including the drivers of both vehicles and a passenger who had been in the pickup truck. All three of those involved in the crash were taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital so that they could be treated for their injuries and receive screening for further injuries that may not have been immediately apparent.

CHP noted that none of the injuries were considered critical or life-threatening and that all of the individuals are expected to fully recover.

Wreckage and Traffic

Photos from the event show major damages to the pickup truck including damage to the sides, a crumpled front end, and damage to the bed of the truck. The Focus was also reported to have sustained major damages as a result of the collision.

Work crews were called to remove wreckage from the roadway and both vehicles were taken away by a tow truck.

Recent Ukiah Accidents

Other recent accidents in the Ukiah area include an April 7, 2017, accident in which the driver of a speeding Toyota Camry collided head-on with a Ford Explorer on State Street in Ukiah. The crash caused the Camry to collide with a power pole, fence, and parked vehicle and both the Camry and the parked vehicle were engulfed in flames. The driver of the Camry tragically did not survive the collision.

Another recent Ukiah accident happened on May 15, 2017, when a nurse survived an accident that tore her vehicle in half on Highway 101 close to the intersection of Geysers Road. The woman was reportedly driving south on her way to a book club when an SUV traveling north veered into her lane and struck her car. The woman survived the grisly accident with only major bruising and the driver of the SUV was arrested for driving under the influence.
