Two Vehicles Hit Pedestrian
I’m Ed Smith, a Stockton pedestrian accident attorney. A tragic incident occurred on the morning of Monday, October 17, 2016. A man was walking on the roadway when he was struck by two vehicles that immediately fled the area. Sadly, the man passed away at the scene.
The hit-and-run incident took place at approximately 6:38 am in the vicinity of Wilcox Road and Waterloo Road in Stockton. According to officers from the California Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was driving on eastbound Waterloo Road. The motorist of the pickup truck switched lanes into the left turn lane to enter the parking area for the McDonald’s. As the pickup was turning, the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian that was in his path and struck the man. Authorities stated that the impact of the driver’s pickup caused the man to be propelled into the first eastbound lane. As the man was laying on the eastbound lane, a dark sedan collided with him, dragging him for a short distance. The dark sedan also fled the scene.

The most common causes of a motor vehicle crashing into a pedestrian include: driving while distracted, failing to yield, speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while fatigued, failing to stop at a traffic light or stop sign, aggressive driving and failing to signal a turn. Regardless of the negligence that caused the collision, the aftermath of the accident can leave a pedestrian with long-term, chronic injuries. The injuries can hinder the pedestrian’s earning capacity due to their inability to work, medical expenses, and extensive emotional suffering and physical pain. It is best to consult with an experienced pedestrian accident lawyer to obtain fair compensation for your losses.
