Accident on Alta Arden Expressway Occurs Between Two Vehicles

A two-vehicle crash in Sacramento caused injuries to one person on March 25 and may have involved a drunk driver. The accident happened in the Arden-Arcade area at Alta Arden Expressway and Bell Street around 6:50 in the evening. The two vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and SUV, collided, which blocked the roadway. The Corolla sustained major front-end damage and had to be towed.

One Person Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash

First responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to assess injuries after one patient complained of head and neck pain as a result of the two-vehicle crash. Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) suspected that drunk or drugged driving may have been a factor in the crash, and toxicology was called to administer an exam. The police are conducting an investigation to determine which driver was at fault and how the collision happened.

Intersection Collisions

A two-vehicle crash at an intersection is a common occurrence and often involves negligence by one of the drivers. They can occur for many reasons, including the following:

  • A driver runs a stop sign or red light: A common cause of a two-vehicle crash at an intersection, another motorist is often passing through legally when this happens. It can result in a T-bone crash, which often causes serious injuries or fatalities because the sides of a vehicle don’t have the protection found in the front and rear.
  • Making a right-hand turn: Although some traffic lights at intersections have turn arrows, others depend on the motorist turning safely without endangering others. Unfortunately, this is far from the case in many instances. A driver can attempt a turn without having a clear view of oncoming traffic or neglects to watch for pedestrians and bicycle riders.
  • Turning left: In some cases, a motorist will turn through the left-turn arrow when it is either getting ready to change or already has. This can result in a two-vehicle crash with an oncoming car. In other instances, the driver may attempt to change lanes while in the middle of a turn. This can cause a sideswipe two-vehicle crash.
  • Making an illegal U-turn: While some intersections allow U-turns, others don’t, and a driver who disobeys the rules can end up causing a two-vehicle crash.

Seeking Help From a Lawyer Following a Two-Vehicle Crash

Intersection accidents can cause serious injuries, which result in hospitalization with high medical costs, the inability to work, and the pain and suffering that goes along with it. When a negligent party was the cause, an injured person can obtain compensation to pay for those losses with the help of a personal injury lawyer. Our injury attorneys have won many cases of this type over the years. We are especially conscientious because we believe that no one should have to pay for injuries they’ve suffered due to someone else’s negligence.

Investigation of a Crash

Negligence must be proven to obtain compensation for a client following an accident injury. Our investigators are experienced in doing just that by heading right away to the two-vehicle crash site to gather the evidence. This includes checking for mistakes in the police report and talking to the witnesses.

In addition, accident reconstruction is performed to show how the crash happened, which often points toward fault as well as checking for live footage from nearby business and traffic surveillance cameras. Once the evidence is compiled, our attorneys go to work to construct a strong case that benefits our client’s claim for compensation.
