Sunrise Boulevard Accident Injures at Least One Person

A two-vehicle crash in Fair Oaks on March 11 resulted in injuries. The accident happened on Sunrise Boulevard near the intersection with Winding Way at around 5:30 in the afternoon, according to the police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Both drivers involved in the collision were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention by first responders with the Sacramento Fire Department. The CHP is investigating to determine what happened to cause the crash.

Hit-and-Run Drivers in Sacramento County

Fleeing drivers have become more common around Sacramento County. In some cases involving a two-vehicle crash, they run because they have no license or it has been revoked. In others, the driver has been drinking or using drugs. One thing they have in common is that they don’t want to face their responsibility toward others.

At my law firm, we believe that it’s bad enough for an innocent motorist to be injured by a negligent driver in a two-vehicle crash. They should not be made responsible for the cost of their own medical bills, lost wages, and for their pain and suffering. My law firm has a good record of locating those hit-and-run drivers, so our clients obtain the justice and the compensation that they deserve.

Locating a Fleeing Driver Following a Two-Vehicle Crash

Drivers flee because they believe they will not be found. However, our investigators have a good record of doing exactly that. One of the areas in which our investigators look for evidence is by examining road, business, and traffic cameras in the area to see if the collision was captured on film. Accident reconstruction is performed, which shows how the two-vehicle crash occurred. In addition, photos are taken and paint scrapes and debris are checked to find pieces that can identify the make and model of the driver’s vehicle.

The investigators look over the police report to ensure it has no mistakes in it. The accident witnesses are interviewed as well. This is an important area to not overlook because a witness may have captured the accident on their cell phone or may be able to identify the vehicle and driver. In some cases, a witness can recall at least a few of the numbers on the license plate, which narrows the search for the driver.

Once the driver has been located, our injury attorneys use the gathered evidence to construct a case that supports our client’s claim for compensation. It can either be used in negotiations on the client’s behalf with the insurance company or if the case has to be taken to court to obtain compensation.

Collecting Damages If the Driver Cannot Be Located

The person injured in the two-vehicle crash has the option of using their uninsured/underinsured insurance policy if the hit-and-run driver cannot be located. This add-on coverage is offered to California drivers when they elect to take auto insurance and covers vehicles, bicycle riders, pedestrians, and others. If the injured party does not have this coverage, but another family member in the household does, that can be used instead. It will not increase the rates.
