I-80 Accident Injures One Person in Two-Vehicle Crash

A two-vehicle crash resulted in face and head injuries for one person in a December 28 Sacramento accident. The crash happened around 11:00 in the morning along I-80 westbound just east of Truxel Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) police report. A Toyota and pickup truck were involved.

Additional Information About the Two-Vehicle Sacramento Accident

Both vehicles ended up on the right-hand side of the road, and emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department blocked the slow lane. First responders transported one patient to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of head and facial lacerations. It has not yet been reported who was responsible for the two-vehicle crash. However, an investigation is underway by the CHP to determine the cause.

Two-Vehicle Crash in Sacramento

Two-vehicle accidents are some of the most common and potentially deadly. While they happen almost anywhere, those that occur on a major highway are more prone to serious injuries and even fatalities. This is due to the speeds at which motorists are traveling on highways as well as the monotony of highway driving. In addition, many motorists are going to and from work and are fatigued during this trip. Taken together, it is easy to see how highways are fertile grounds for two-vehicle accidents.

Lacerations of the Face and Head

Lacerations frequently occur in all types of car accidents and range from minor to severe. Due to the high blood supply to the scalp and face, bleeding is a major complication. At the very least, an injured driver would require sutures to close the wound in many cases. Conversely, lacerations may indicate a deeper trauma, such as traumatic brain injury. No matter what, the injured party would need to be seen by a physician, evaluated, and treated.

Dangers of Lacerations in a Two-Vehicle Crash

One of the dangers people face after a laceration injury deals with infection of the wound. The wound can become infected by embedded dust, dirt, metal shards, or glass.

Investigating a Two-Vehicle Crash

An investigation is key to proving a claim for compensation following an accident. At our firm, we’ve successfully resolved many cases due to our diligence in gathering evidence after a collision. That is because we send our investigators to the scene of the accident immediately, where they evaluate the area to determine liability

They do this in a number of ways, such as:

  • Accident reconstruction: This is a means of determining where the vehicles were placed before, during, and immediately after the accident. Our experts use computerized models as well as photographic evidence to procure this information. This type of reconstruction is widely used in negotiations with insurers as well as during a jury trial.
  • Video footage of the accident: This is an essential tool in proving how and why the accident happened. Today, video footage can be obtained from surveillance cameras all over the city and in some rural areas. Many businesses also have security cameras that can catch an accident as it happens.
  • Interview witnesses: Our investigative team speaks with witnesses at the accident scene who saw it occur as it happened.
  • Review police reports: Police reports are used by insurance companies and in court to describe the accident and how it occurred. However, sometimes, police reports contain inaccurate information, and our investigators ensure that any errors are corrected.
