Two People Critically Injured During Corning Accident

Two People Critically Injured After Highway Crash Near Corning

On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, a car accident just north of Corning left two people critically injured. Information from California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicates that the accident involved three vehicles and took place in the early evening. Police also stated that they suspect the accident was caused by an intoxicated driver and have placed one person under arrest for DUI related to the crash. Updates on the conditions of the injured individuals have not been provided by hospital officials, and the accident remains under investigation.

Crash Details

Reports state that a 33-year-old Corning woman was driving a 2019 Lincoln Navigator northbound on Highway 99W at around 5:00 p.m. At the same time, a 33-year-old Paradise man was traveling in a 2006 Toyota RAV 4 heading west on Gyle Road with another 33-year-old male as a front-seat passenger. Allegedly, the RAV 4 failed to stop at the intersection of Gyle Road and Highway 99W. As the RAV 4 entered the highway, it traveled directly into the path of the Navigator.

According to reports, the Navigator driver attempted to avoid the accident by swerving but was unable to maneuver away in time. CHP said that the front of the Lincoln collided with the left-front side of the Toyota. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles northwest into a small store’s parking lot where the RAV 4 struck a third, parked vehicle.

Injuries

Emergency personnel were sent out to the accident site immediately after CHP received notification about the crash. When they arrived, responders found that both the driver of the Navigator and RAV 4 had suffered critical injuries. The Lincoln driver was reportedly hospitalized for abdomen and leg injuries. The RAV 4 driver was taken to the Mercy Medical Center in Redding for treatment of major blunt force head trauma. According to CHP, he was placed under arrest on charges of driving under the influence before being released into hospital custody.

A man sitting in the parked vehicle reportedly did not suffer any injuries during the accident. Additionally, whether or not the passenger of the RAV4 was injured has not been reported.

Recovering From Crash Injuries

Recovering after a serious collision injury can be very difficult both for crash survivors and their families. Injured parties often face a long, painful road to regaining their health and, in many cases, are left with permanent symptoms that change the way they live their lives. While the stress of simply recovering is a lot to handle, crash survivors and their families are also often put in a very difficult financial situation. Medical expenses and lost income often leave people wondering how they will be able to afford their own recovery.

However, crash survivors can get help by contacting a Corning personal injury lawyer. Your lawyer will be able to help you file a personal injury claim in order to hold responsible parties and their insurers financially liable for the losses that you and your family have suffered. To learn more about obtaining payments for your injuries, it’s best to talk personally to a trusted lawyer in your area.
