Two Injured in Vacaville Crash

Officers from the Vacaville Police Department (VPD) reported that two people suffered injuries in a local car accident that took place on Thursday, April 4, 2019. The accident involved two vehicles and left one person with major injuries. Reports from hospital staff indicated that severely injured man, a 48-year-old from Vacaville, was in critical condition as of Friday, April 5, 2019. While the other individual suffered serious injuries, they were not reported to be life-threatening.

Crash Details

VPD Lt. Mark Donaldson told reporters that the accident happened just before 4:00 on the eastern side of Vacaville. A 36-year-old woman was driving a dog grooming van on Christine Drive and was stopped at the Ulatis intersection. At this time, a Jeep had been driving east on Ulatis heading toward Leisure Town Road. As the van began to turn right to enter Ulatis from Christine, the Jeep reportedly swerved into the westbound lane, directly into the van’s path. The two vehicles crashed into each other head-on, ultimately pushing the van onto its side.

Both vehicles were severely damaged, and debris was scattered across the road. Donaldson stated that several accident witnesses stopped at the crash site to lend aid. He reported that these witnesses told police that the Jeep had been “driving erratically.”

Response

Vacaville fire crews arrived at the scene shortly after the crash took place. Emergency personnel tended to the survivors and had them both transported to the Kaiser Hospital off of Leisure Town Road. Responders said that the woman driving the van suffered a broken foot as well as multiple rib fractures. The specific nature of the Jeep driver’s injuries was not reported.

Investigation

The area was closed to traffic for hours after the crash while investigators searched the scene for evidence. VPD continues to investigate this crash in order to determine all of the causal factors that were involved. So far, reports suggest that police believe speeding may have been a factor, but no other causes have been mentioned.

Head-on crashes are dangerous and can be caused by a variety of factors such as medical issues, auto product defects, reckless driving, roadway hazards, and more.

Recovering after a Collision

Recovering your health after an accident can be hard. Many people are left with physical ailments for years, and some are even permanently affected by their injuries. Going through the recovery process can also mean a significant change to your lifestyle, which can mean having to take time off work or even being unable to work at all. These issues can be devastating to people who’ve suffered injuries, but filing a personal injury claim can help crash survivors recover money for their losses. However, it is important to understand that personal injury cases are complex and it is best to get advice from a Vacaville personal injury lawyer before you take any kind of legal action.
