Three cars were involved in a Brentwood collision on Sunday evening, January 13. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and assisted in transferring two injured people to nearby medical centers for treatment. No fatalities were reported.

Brentwood Intersection Accident Details

The accident happened shortly before 9:00 p.m. at the street intersection of Marsh Creek Road and Walnut Boulevard. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers, a white Toyota Venza was in the southbound lanes of Walnut Boulevard right before crashing into the passenger side of a black Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep was traveling westbound along Marsh Creek Road, and the driver is believed to have run a red light. The force from the impact made the Jeep roll before coming to a rest on the passenger side. After the collision between the Toyota and the Jeep, both cars collided into a white Ford F-350. The Ford had been at a full stop at the intersection.

East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) Engines 59 and 52 arrived at the accident site, in addition to various AMR medical units. After emergency responders arrived, it was determined that a medical helicopter would be necessary for the injured people. A landing zone was set up along Marsh Creek, just east of the accident’s location. One person was transferred by a CalStar helicopter to the John Muir Medical trauma center located in Walnut Creek. ECCFPD Captain, Dan Baio, said that the person displayed symptoms that were indicative of a possible head injury. The other patient was transferred via ambulance to the Sutter Medical Center within Antioch. The unidentified female patient was reported to have minor injuries related to her shoulder and abdomen.

Witnesses of the accident gave statements saying that the driver of the Jeep had run a red light before the collision. CHP stated that there were no obvious indicators of driver impairment, although the Jeep driver will be tested at John Muir after getting treated for his injuries. Traffic was affected for roughly one hour following the accident.
