Two People Injured in Berkeley Pedestrian Collision on Stattuck Avenue

A Berkeley pedestrian collision on August 9 sent two people to the hospital after a vehicle struck them in downtown. The incident occurred at the intersection of Shattuck and Durant avenues shortly before 11:20 p.m., according to the Berkeley Police Department.  Preliminary reports said that a black Honda traveling southbound on Shattuck Avenue hit a woman and a young man as they crossed the street.

Two People Transported to Hospital Following Berkeley Pedestrian Collision

Berkeley firefighters arriving on the scene found the woman lying motionless on the ground, while the young man was experiencing obvious pain. Both pedestrians were transported to Highland Hospital. A large crowd quickly gathered at the intersection. 

Investigation Continues Into Cause of Accident

Police said the driver stopped immediately and cooperated with the investigation. At this stage, authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
