Two Arrested Following Chico Hit-and-Run Collision

On Friday, October 30, 2020, a Chico hit-and-run auto accident left three people injured. According to the Chico Police Department (CPD) officers, police were able to apprehend and arrest two individuals who fled the scene of the crash. Specific details about the injuries sustained during the collision were not available. However, medical officials indicated that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Crash Details

CPD reported that the crash happened at around 8:26 p.m. near the intersection of Palmetto and Mangrove Avenue on the east side of the Chico Cemetery. Reportedly, the two vehicles involved in the crash were both driving south on Mangrove Avenue when one crashed into the other. As a result, one of the vehicles overturned and, according to collision witnesses, began to smoke.

Directly after the crash, two occupants of one of the involved vehicles exited their car and fled the scene on foot. After conducting a search of the nearby area, CPD officers were able to locate individuals who matched witness descriptions and placed both of them under arrest. The motorist, a 31-year-old man, was arrested on charges of DUI causing injury while the passenger, a 22-year-old woman, was charged with public intoxication.

Response and Injuries after Chico Hit-and-Run

The single occupant of the second vehicle remained inside his car and waited for officers to arrive. According to police, all individuals involved in the accident suffered injuries, but none elected to receive hospital care. An investigation into all of the causal factors of this accident is ongoing.

Rollovers and Injuries

When a vehicle rolls, it usually puts a major amount of force onto the roof. When this happens, the roof may crush, meaning that metal will intrude into the cabin of the vehicle, potentially leaving occupants with major injuries. For this reason, rollover accidents have one of the highest rates of major injuries when compared to other types of crashes.

If a vehicle roof crushes, it’s possible that it was not strong enough to reasonably protect drivers and passengers. The roof may have been designed poorly or simply built from a weak material. In both of these cases, the company that manufactured the car may be considered partially at-fault for damages caused by the accident. This means that injured individuals can attempt to hold these companies responsible through a personal injury claim.

Calling an Attorney

A car accident injury can have a major impact on your life. In many cases, these injuries can require expensive medical treatments. Furthermore, being injured can make it difficult to do your job, which may result in a loss of income. On top of all this, many people who are involved in auto accidents no longer have access to a working vehicle and either need to repair their car or buy a new one.

While these concerns can leave people worried, it is possible to reach out for help, and many accident survivors can claim compensation for all of the losses described above. In order to make sure that you are properly compensated for these losses, it is important to call a Chico personal injury lawyer at your earliest opportunity
