Bainbridge Drive Accident Happens When Car Jumps Sidewalk

A traffic fatality happened in North Highlands on November 27 when an elderly man was struck and killed by a motor vehicle. The accident happened around 9:18 in the morning at Bainbridge Drive near Walerga Road as the Sacramento man, age 81, was walking his bike along the sidewalk on Bainbridge Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) traffic report, another Sacramento resident, age 31, rode his vehicle up onto the sidewalk, striking the elderly man.

Additional Details of the Traffic Fatality Accident.

The driver stayed at the accident scene, and his vehicle was towed for evidence in the traffic fatality case. The injured pedestrian was transported by emergency responders to a local hospital, where he passed away from his injuries. The driver in the incident was placed under arrest. Authorities believe that he may have been using drugs at the time of the accident.

Information Sought in Traffic Accident

The fire department blocked northbound Bainbridge Drive, and the number two lane on Walerga Road was shut down for around two hours while the CHP investigated how the collision and traffic fatality occurred. Witnesses to the accident or others with details can contact Officer A.J. McTaggert with that information at the CHP office in North Sacramento. The phone numbers to contact Officer McTaggert are (916) 348-2300 or (916) 798-0975, which is his cell phone.

Coping With a Wrongful Death in the Family

It’s always difficult to deal with the grief you feel when a loved one dies. When that loss didn’t have to happen, such as in a traffic fatality, the family not only grieves but faces a lack of justice for their loved one’s loss. Filing a wrongful death claim against the person who was responsible can help fill that void. Over the years, my law firm has successfully handled many wrongful death cases and may be able to do the same for you.

Helping Those Who Are Grief-Stricken

There are many who would like to offer their sympathy and support to those who grieve the loss of a loved one. The problem is that they don’t always know how to go about it. The following suggestions may be helpful with their grief after loss:

  • Call to express your sympathy and visit if it is permitted.
  • Send a card, a charitable donation in the decedent’s name or flowers.
  • Sending over food is always welcome since the family is busy and won’t necessarily take the time to eat. It doesn’t matter whether the food is prepared at home or ordered from a restaurant.
  • Offer to run errands such as taking children to school or picking them up. Family members may also need prescriptions, groceries, or other items, and offering to take them to make their purchases can be helpful.
  • Help around the house if you visit. Just washing dishes or vacuuming because company is coming will be appreciated.
  • Offer to accompany the person who is making the funeral arrangements. Emotional support is more than welcome at this time.
  • Grief does not end once the funeral service is over. Be there for your family member or friend afterward.
