Driver Flees Marconi Avenue Injury Accident

A traffic collision between two vehicles in Sacramento recently resulted in at least one injury, and one of the drivers fled the scene. The accident happened recently along Marconi Avenue between Watt and Eastern avenues in the Arden-Arcade area. The police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that an SUV and Chevrolet Camaro were involved.

Accident Investigation Underway Following Two-Vehicle Crash

First responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived to assess the injured due to a complaint of pain. No additional information was provided. An accident investigation into the cause of the incident and to locate the hit-and-run driver is underway by the CHP.

Accidents on City Streets

Accidents along city streets are common and often involve negligence on the part of at least one driver. Common causes include:

  • A motorist attempts to change lanes without checking their blind spot for traffic first.
  • A tailgater cannot stop in time to avoid a traffic collision when the driver in front slows suddenly.
  • One of the drivers is speeding and cannot stop in time to prevent a rear-end collision.
  • A motorist suddenly pulls out into traffic, and the cars in the lane cannot stop in time to avoid a traffic collision.
  • A driver stops suddenly without warning.

Finding a Hit-and-Run Driver After a Traffic Collision

By finding a hit-and-run driver who caused an accident, an injury claim can be placed against their insurance company for damages or the case can be resolved in court. Over our many years in practice, we have a good record of success in locating fleeing drivers. Our investigators are key as they discover the evidence that can lead to the driver that left the accident scene. Some areas in which an investigation is conducted include:

  • Evidence is key to locating a fleeing driver and oftentimes there are paint chips or smears as well as other physical signs that can point to the make and model of the vehicle.
  • Witnesses to the crash sometimes capture it on their cell phones. This can help identify the vehicle and driver.
  • The police report can contain clues, including descriptions of the vehicle or driver. Since many hit-and-run drivers live a short distance from the accident site, this can help narrow down the search.
  • Accident reconstruction is performed to determine how the collision occurred and shows the positioning of the vehicles.
  • Traffic, business, and other surveillance cameras are checked to see if the accident was captured on film. This can help identify the vehicle.

Once the hit-and-run driver is located, this information can be used by our injury attorneys to construct a strong case that benefits our client’s claim for compensation. If the fleeing driver cannot be found, there is another way to obtain the compensation needed to pay for the accident injuries.

What Happens If the Driver Can’t Be Found?

If the driver can’t be located, the injured person has the option of using their uninsured/underinsured auto coverage to pay for their injuries. It covers the driver and passengers and isn’t limited to automobile accidents. It also provides coverage if the policyholder was a pedestrian, riding a bike, or other forms of transportation.

If the injured party does not carry this add-on policy that is offered to all motorists when they elect to purchase auto insurance but another household member has it, that can be used to pay for accident injuries. It will not affect the policy rate.
