Accident at Fulton Avenue Involves Three Injured People, One of Them Shot

A bizarre traffic accident in Sacramento County on May 27 resulted in injuries, shots fired, and a stolen dog. The incident occurred in the Arden-Arcade area at about 4:20 in the afternoon on Fulton Avenue at the intersection with Sierra Boulevard, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The three people who were injured are expected to live, although one was seriously injured by the gunfire.

Good Samaritan Explains What Happened in Traffic Accident

A business owner on the corner of the intersection, Corey Valdez, said he ran outside when he heard the crash. There was a red car with its front end demolished, and he ran there to help. He said the driver was screaming, and his leg was pinned between the steering wheel, dash, and console.

Bullet Holes in Vehicle Discovered Following Traffic Accident

Seeing he couldn’t help there, Valdez went to the passenger side to help another man but couldn’t open the door. He said the man was “dazed and confused.” At this point, one of the occupants in the vehicle said someone had been shooting at them. A reporter with one of the local news stations spotted what could have been several bullet holes along the driver’s side and two on the passenger side.

Small Dog Stolen From Crashed Car

Valdez then spotted a girl and a dog in the backseat and that another man was attempting to open the rear car door. When the rear car door was open, Valdez said the man walked away holding the small dog. Others at the accident scene believed the man was stealing the dog.

Suspected Dog Thief Detained

The man then entered a BMW and left the accident scene with the dog. Another good Samaritan attempted to stop the car, but the man drove away. The suspected driver of the car was detained that evening. The dog was recovered and taken to animal control, according to Sgt. Rod Grassman, who is a member of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Compensation Following a Traffic Accident Injury

Injuries caused by a traffic accident or intentional act can be compensated with the assistance of a personal injury attorney. The more serious the trauma, the more likely it is the injured party will face high medical costs, be unable to work and face great pain and suffering. We strongly believe that it is difficult enough to have to go through the trauma of an accident injury. The person or entity who caused it should have to pay for the financial losses. The following losses can be recovered:

  • All medical expenses are recoverable that are related to the traffic accident, which includes everything from the ambulance service and hospitalization to physicians’ fees, tests, medications, and physical therapy.
  • If the injury continues in the future or becomes a permanent disability, the costs of additional medical care are factored into the settlement.
  • Lost wages caused by the inability to work because of the traffic accident can be recovered.
  • The loss of consortium and affection between spouses because of the traffic accident can be factored into the compensation claim.
  • Pain and suffering, both physical and emotional, are included.
