Can You Seek Compensation for Losses from a Car Accident?

When an individual is injured, or a family loses a loved one in a traffic collision that occurs from the negligence of another party, the injured person or survivors may file a claim for damages. Financial security from a personal injury or wrongful death claim may provide injured parties or families a means to rebuild their lives after a traumatic incident. It may also provide a sense of closure, knowing that the party that caused the crash has been held accountable for their actions.

Injured parties may be entitled to the recovery of wage loss, medical bills, pain and suffering, and other losses. Surviving family members may seek reimbursement of funeral service costs, end-of-life care, loss of financial support, and other relevant damages. An in-depth investigation into a traffic collision is necessary to establish causation. This is one element that must be met when filing a case for personal injury or wrongful death in California.

Why is an Investigation of a Head-On Collision Important?

Conducting a thorough investigation into a head-on collision is crucial for uncovering the truth and establishing fault. A skilled and knowledgeable injury lawyer will play a pivotal role in the investigative process, ensure that the rights of their client are protected, and help them navigate the challenges that may arise in the legal process. An attorney will work diligently to collect and preserve evidence immediately. This may include photographs, eyewitness statements, traffic incident reports, and any available video surveillance footage.

An injured party or surviving family member should always consider resources in their search for the right accident attorney to handle their case. A lawyer with resources will work with experts, such as accident reconstruction specialists, who will use scientific methods to determine the factors involved in the incident. This may include impact angles, vehicle speed, and the cause of the collision. Testimony from an accident reconstruction specialist and other experts is essential to eliminating any uncertainty when it comes to liability and damages in a personal injury or wrongful death case.
