Three Injured in Byron Crash with FedEx Truck

Three parties were injured in a crash with a FedEx truck in the Byron area on the morning of Thursday, January 14, 2021. The incident occurred on Byron Highway at Hoffman Lane at approximately 11:00 a.m. The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) responded to a report of a trucking collision involving a FedEx truck and a silver SUV in the area.

Officials reported that one party was trapped inside the vehicle after colliding with the truck. Three individuals suffered injuries in the truck accident, two reported in critical condition by Battalion 5 at the scene. A medical helicopter was requested, and the roadway was closed down. One patient was airlifted to the hospital, while two others were taken by ground ambulance. Further details on the incident were not immediately available.

Consequences of Truck Accidents

Truck accidents have the potential to cause catastrophic injuries and even permanent disability because of their overwhelming size and weight. According to the National Safety Council (NSC), approximately 150,000 people were injured in large-truck crashes in 2018. Most of the injuries reported that year happened to passengers of other vehicles at 72 percent, followed by occupants of large trucks at 26 percent, and non-occupants with 2 percent.

Insurance companies representing truckers and trucking companies often take quick action after a commercial truck accident to minimize their financial liability. This means the insurer will examine all facts and circumstances of a personal injury claim to dispute, devalue, or deny it. This may mean taking advantage of an injured party and not compensating them for their medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Fortunately, a Brentwood auto accident attorney has the experience, skills, and resources necessary for seeking fair compensation for those suffering serious injuries and damages caused by negligent truck drivers. Importance of Working with an Attorney After Getting Injured in a Byron Truck Crash

Filing a personal injury lawsuit for a truck accident in California is challenging compared to car accident cases because compliance with industry standards and federal safety regulations is essential in handling these cases. Hiring an attorney for a big rig crash immediately after a truck wreck is essential for ensuring that evidence is gathered and preserved before it is lost or destroyed.

Our legal team often works with expert witnesses like accident reconstruction experts who will visit the truck accident scene and document all relevant evidence. In some truck accident injury cases, physical evidence at the collision site, like skid marks, may disappear over time. There are also documents associated with a crash required by federal law to be kept for a specific amount of time. Once that time period has passed, the truck firm may dispose of them. For this reason, it is critical to work with an attorney to ensure all case evidence is protected.

Since any party like the truck driver, trucking firm, the owner of the big rig, or the manufacturer of the defective truck parts and equipment may be held financially accountable for damages incurred, the more evidence your attorney can gather and preserve, the better.
